Oligodendroglioma and Research

For diseases that are “mainstream” and get tons of funding from the government and big, successful foundations—not to mention big pharma—the system works pretty well.  For “rare” diseases like brain cancer, it doesn’t work well.  And for diseases like oligodendroglioma, it hasn’t worked at all.

While there have been important new breakthroughs in cancer research and treatments, it means nothing to us until these approaches are adapted to and tested on Oligo.  Due to lack of funding and research tools, almost nothing has been tried against Oligo. The bottom line for us is that no one else will ‘save’ us, we need to fund the research ourselves to identify new, more effective treatments.
